“It is hard to overstate the value of our connections with our local communities”. Truly embracing our purpose of Creating Meaningful Connections, our RE:CONNECTION community program is focused on growing the relationship between our breweries and local communities, using our company’s resources and technologies in projects across Europe and the world. Through these partnerships we can best contribute to nature, society and the communities that we operate in.

Here are just some examples of activities our colleagues have recently supported:

In Italy, through Campus Peroni, our Birra Peroni colleagues created a barley growing system using innovative technology to ensure quality and improve sustainability, so that brewers can continue making 100% Italian malt beer.

Colleagues from our Birra Peroni brewery in Bari, Italy joined volunteers from local environment association Legambiente in a cleaning operation at Perotti Park, a much-loved public space in the city. Over 60kg of abandoned waste was collected for disposal – and where possible, to be recycled for a second life.

Our Plzeňský Prazdroj colleagues in the Czech Republic helped out local hop fields during the pandemic by dispatching bartenders, who were temporarily out of work due to COVID-19 restrictions to support local farmers working in their fields.

Earlier this year in the Netherlands, colleagues from Grolsch joined with employees from other companies for the 20th ‘National Clean-up Day’, with the theme “Every package counts”, and collected over 30 full garbage bags in one day having a positive impact on the environment

Over 70 passionate Asahi colleagues from our Prague office are also actively involved in our RE:CONNECTION Volunteer Program, which is running several projects this summer. Look out for future posts highlighting volunteering work being undertaken by our colleagues across Europe this summer and beyond.
