This is an exciting time to join the team, with the Asahi business entering into a new phase of its journey in the UK and Europe, following Asahi’s acquisition of the Fuller’s drinks business in April 2019. The operational footprint in the UK has widened, bringing new brewing and distribution capabilities as well as an expanded portfolio - now including cask ales and ciders for the first time.
 
Asahi UK Holdings Limited is the integrated Supply Chain and Distribution company of Asahi International Ltd, managing all brewing, warehousing, distribution, import and export for the business in the UK. The highly-skilled team coordinates supply of some of the world’s best loved beer brands for the UK market, such as Peroni Nastro Azzurro and Asahi Super Dry, as well as brewing, production and distribution operations at Meantime Brewing Company in Greenwich, Cornish Orchards cidery in Duloe, Cornwall and The Fuller’s Griffin Brewery in Chiswick, West London. Iconic British brands including cask beers London Pride and Dark Star Hophead, craft lager brand Frontier, as well as Cornish Orchards cider and soft drinks now join our existing much-loved portfolio alongside Asahi Super Dry, Peroni Nastro Azzurro, Grolsch, and Meantime.
 
We now have a fantastic opportunity for a General Manager to join our Meantime Brand based on site in Greenwich. This is a key leadership role, shaping the future of the business. It is accountable for the end to end production and logistics of all Meantime Brands and other products, ensuring we deliver exceptional quality brands for our customers in the right volume, at the right price and to the right standards in a healthy, safe environment.
 
Your key responsibilities as General Manager will include;
 
*This role is accountable for driving quality, productivity and end to end efficiencies, while upholding the mandatory technical standards across Brewing, Packaging, Engineering, Capital Projects and Manufacturing Development.
*Full P&L responsibility and be accountable for setting annual and long-range plans for the Meantime Brewery, including the capital investment programme, to deliver the brand and commercial objectives for the Meantime business.
*Effectively lead the functions of Brewing, Packaging, Quality, Brewery warehousing, and Engineering and ensure an integrated and collaborative approach in the implementation of business priorities
*Lead the implementation of the highest standards of Health and Safety at the Meantime Brewery and Chair the H&S committee
*Ensure products are produced at the right time in the right quantities and at the right cost to meet customers needs and P&L requirements
*Improve productivity, quality and efficiencies across the Brewing, Packaging, Quality, Brewery warehousing, and Engineering functions to achieve business performance goals
*Build capability and drive engagement in the Meantime Brewery through the implementation of a robust people plan.
*Partner effectively with Commercial teams to deliver the NPD/Innovation agenda, providing thought leadership and cross-functional consulting support as required
*Champion the sustainable development agenda as it applies to the Meantime Brewery (e.g. waste, water / energy usage, etc.)
*Develop and manage the brewery’s budgets (both Capex and Opex) ensuring achievement of agreed targets
*Develop talent within the Meantime Brewery, building the necessary capability and succession to ensure sustainable delivery of business and technical priorities
*Work as a key member of the UK Supply Chain Leadership Team supporting the wider UK Supply Chain business as well as having responsibility for the Meantime Brewery.
 
Your Ideal background:
 
*5-10 years in FMCG background ideally in brewing with strong experience in Quality and Packaging
*A knowledge of engineering would be desirable
*Proven General Management Experience at site level.
*Master brewer (or working towards master brewers) or degree in related subject
*Strong Health and safety experience both in compliance and team engagement
*Strong experience of leading complex site level projects, through engaging multiples teams to deliver the project on time and to budget
*Ability and the desire to grow in the company and to be the 'Face’ of Meantime Brewery.
*A passion for Craft Beer is a must
*Strong and proven Leadership capability
*Strong analytical skills in order to assess and drive business performance in a dynamic context;
*Strong business acumen, understanding priorities and functional requirements;
